Donna Nook 14/09/13

A few hours at Donna Nook from midday. The green wing-tagged Marsh Harrier which has been in the area for a couple of weeks now was over the pools N of Stonebridge - the bird was tagged in North Norfolk.A seawatch off Quad 3 produced my first ever Long-tailed Skua for the patch when an adult flew N c14.00. Also on the seawatch: 2 Arctic Skua, 2 Gannet, 6 Red-throated Diver, several Sandwich Terns, Arctic Tern, 4 Common Terns and a Guillemot. A flock of c40 Common Scoters had a Scaup or Tufted Duck in with them but distance meant I couldn't ID which (the rapid flight suggested Tufted). Other highlights from my visit: Hobby, Green Sandpiper and 2 Wheatear  - including a cracking Greenland bird with very buff underparts and a striking white supercilium.
