Far Ings, Barton 06/08/16

Made the short trip up to Far Ings, Barton for the Squacco Heron - still a rare bird for the county. Spent the afternoon and evening there with the highlights being:
Squacco Heron - views of it in flight and on the edge of a hawthorn overhanging one of the pits, 120+ Common Scoter, 4 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Green Sandpiper. 2 Marsh Harrier, 3 Water Rail, 4 Cetti's Warbler, 2 Bearded Tit and a Willow Tit.

A flock of 120+ Common Scoters came west up the humber, gained height to clear the humber bridge and carried on high west - a great sight. It was the first time I've seen scoters so high as they always fly at low levels when I encounter them along the coast.

Black-tailed Skimmers were showing well along one of the paths today
